George Bradford Newsome

August 28, 1971 — May 25, 2022

George Bradford Newsome, 50, of Marianna, Florida passed away on May 25, 2022, at his residence.

Brad was a firefighter for over 25 years earning his title of Battalion Chief with the Walton County Fire Department. Throughout his career, he worked for Florida State Hospital Fire Department, South Walton Fire District, Calhoun County EMS, Jackson County Fire Rescue , Defuniak Springs Fire Department,
and Walton County Fire Rescue

He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and an outdoor man. From cheer competitions to ball games, Brad most enjoyed spending time with his children, Gabe and Hannah. He loved his family more than anything and was always ready to give some life advice, whether it was solicited or not.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mildred Newsome; and brother, Gregory Newsome.

Brad is survived by his wife of 23 years, Tammie Newsome; daughter, Hannah Newsome and her fiancé, Jacob Chabot; son, Gabe Newsome; sisters, Debra Mixon, and husband, Dan, Janet Redner and husband, Larry, Alex Baldwin; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be 10 AM Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at Evangel Church with Pastor Lavon Pettis officiating. He will be placed in the Chapel of the Pines at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

The family will receive friends from 8:30 – 9:30 AM prior to the service Tuesday at Evangel Church.
