She was a native of Greenville, Mississippi, moved to Marianna in 1954. Gene retired from The State of Florida food stamp office. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husbands, John Burell and Lowell Spooner. Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Burell Morgan of Two Egg; two step daughters, Gwin Hester of Grand Bay Al., Revalyn Showah of Pascagoula, MS.; one step son, Harry Spooner of McCayszille, GA.; one brother, Bob Reed of Marianna; two sisters, Sue Conrad of Webb, Al., Elaine Cortozzi of La Place, LA.; six grandchildren, including, Matt & Chris Bishop, Marcy Dorman; four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Special thank you to Emerald Coast Hospice, and nurse Stephanie. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, August 13, 2010 at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel with Gino Mayo officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
