He was born in Chattahoochee, lived most of his life in Jackson County. Preceded in death by his father, Colon J. Mercer. Survivors include one, son, Bryan E. Mercer of Aberdeen, N.C.; his mother, Helen W. Mercer of Dellwood; two grandchildren, Bryan D. Mercer and Miranda G. Mercer. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cypress Grove Assembly of God Church with Rev. Wayne Fussell and Dr. Thomas Batts officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
