Frances Davis Shadburn, 81, of Cottondale, Florida died Monday, August 12, 2024 at South East Medical Center.
Frances was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt whose life touched many. She was born November 1, 1942 in Jackson County to Helen Howell Davis and Ezra Morea Davis. Frances lived a life filled with love, faith, and compassion. She dedicated her life to her family and to educating children of all ages. Frances worked for over 30 years as a teacher, principal and administrator in Jackson, Gilchrist and Washington counties. She wanted everyone to live up to their full potential and led by example through her strength of character and focus on being the best one can be. Frances guided everyone to perform any task to best of their ability and did so with kindness and love that was felt by all who knew her. Frances was a long-time member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. She cherished the time spent with her family and friends, often sharing laughter, guidance, and wisdom that will be dearly missed.
Frances is survived by her husband, Jan Edwin Shadburn, her son, Jayson Eric Shadburn, and her three grandchildren, Oliva Shadburn, Jackson “Jack” Shadburn, and Mia Shadburn. She is also survived by her brothers and their wives, Ronnie and Shirley Davis, Greg Davis and Mary Davis, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 3 PM, Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with Revs. Kenny Adkison & Mike Orr officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Jackson, “Jack,” Shadburn, Joey Wilson, Preston Wilson, Koltin Cox, Sam Cox, and Ashley Brown. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM, Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.
