Flake Jeter, 59, of Greenwood, Florida died Thursday, May 12, 2022 at his residence. He was born on April 28, 1963 to Tommy and Johnnie Mae Jeter in the Shady Grove Community. Flake was a life-long resident of Jackson County and enjoyed the outdoors, especially working in the yard. He retired from J-Trans after 20 years of service. Flake was a man of commitment.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Tommy and Johnnie Mae Jeter; and four brothers, Franklin Jeter, Carl Jeter, Paul Jeter, and Wayne Thomas Jeter.
Flake is survived by his wife, Gail Jeter; one daughter, Chasity Matthews (Jason) of Marianna; two sons, Trevor Jeter (Carrie) of Talladega, AL; and William Lamar Mercer, of Greenwood; five grandchildren, Hunter, Austyn, Tyler, Kason and Rylee Matthews; two brothers, Wayne Jeter (Wanda) of Wausau, Larry Jeter (Laura) of Marianna; and one sister, Elizabeth Boutwell of Bristol, FL.; special friend and father-in-law, Charles Weeks of Greenwood.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on May 17, 2022 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel. Interment will follow at Cow Pen Pond Cemetery in Grand Ridge with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 16, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.
