Fay Logan Chandler, born Dorothy Fay Logan on June 5, 1933, in Lovedale, Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. She was the beloved daughter of Wilbur J. Logan and Valda Erin Chappell Logan. Fay was preceded in death by her parents, her devoted husband, Harvel Chandler, and their cherished son, Mitchell Chandler; brother, Alva Stephenson, sisters, Hilda Bevis, Norma Dell Jensen, and nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her sister, Shirley Tompkins; her eldest son, Patrick (Pat) Chandler, and his wife, Angela Chandler. She also leaves behind her dear grandchildren: Chris Chandler, Tyler Chandler, and wife Liz, Abby Smith, Melissa Storey, and Amy Thayer, along with several great-grandchildren. Her legacy continues through many loving nieces and nephews.
Fay grew up in Lovedale, Florida, before pursuing higher education at Berry College in Rome, Georgia, where she earned her bachelor's degree. It was there that she met the love of her life, Harvel Chandler, and they married on June 24, 1957. Committed to her passion for education, Fay furthered her studies by obtaining a master’s degree.
Her career began as an elementary school teacher in Immokalee, Florida, in 1957. Over time, she transitioned into a leadership role, serving as the coordinator of the migrant program for the state of Florida, where she made a lasting impact on the lives of many. After a fulfilling career, Fay and Harvel returned to her roots in the Lovedale area to enjoy their retirement together.
Fay was a woman of deep faith, and her life was a testament to her unwavering commitment to her Christian beliefs. She was very involved in her Baptist church, dedicating her time and love to serving her community and sharing her faith with others. Her kindness, generosity, and sweet spirit touched the lives of everyone who knew her, and she was an inspiration to all who had the privilege of crossing her path.
Fay will be remembered for her dedication to education, her unwavering love for her family, and her deep compassion for those in need. Her kindness and wisdom touched the lives of many, and her memory will forever be cherished.
A celebration of Fay's life will be 2 PM Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Lovedale Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Canada officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Lovedale Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Lovedale Baptist Church in her honor.
