She was born and raised in Jackson County, graduated from Sneads High School. She then moved to Southern Florida where she lived for more than 50 years retiring from Palm Beach County School System in 1978. Mrs. Burns was a longtime member of Chosen Baptist Church in Belle Glade. She has lived in Woodstock, GA for the past 14 years. She is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Lee Burns in 1978. Survivors include, two daughters, Sarah Phillips of Woodstock GA., Martha Reynolds of Panama City; one brother, B. W. Jones of Jakin, GA.; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. CDT, Sunday, May 31, at Grand Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Caron Harn officiating.. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
