Ethel Mears, 91, of Cypress / Alliance Community died Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at Marianna Health and Rehab. Center in Marianna. A native and life long resident of Jackson County, Ms. Mears was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie "Willis" C.W. and Alice Thomas Mears; two sisters, Juanita Cook and Ruby Lee Edenfield. Survivors include her son Horace Carter Mears of Cypress, two grandchildren, Michael Mears and wife Lillie Ann of Marianna and Charlene Rutherford and husband Kris of Gardner, Kansas; six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 pm Thursday, December 3, 2009 at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel with Rev. Jerry Mears officiating. Interment will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 pm Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at Maddox Chapel.
