Esther Owens Durden

James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Esther O. Durden, 93, of Grand Ridge, died peacefully on July 20, 2013 at home with her family, where she had remained bed ridden for the past 11 years. Mrs. Durden was a Florida native and resident of Jackson County. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and devout Christian for her entire adult life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie and Fannie Owens; brothers, Wesley and Roy Owens; one sister, Idele Dudley; husband, Ellis Durden; daughter, Carol Ann; sons, John Gordon and James Edward. She is survived by daughters, Ann Durden, Joan Myers and husband, Jon Myers of Dothan, AL; sons, Henton Earl Durden of Panama City, FL and Douglas Eugene (Pubby) Durden wife, Angie Durden of Grand Ridge, FL; 11 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at 4 p.m. at Cypress Grove Assembly of God with Rev. Wayne Fussell and Rev. Mrs. Marlene Owens officiating. Interment will follow in Cypress Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends Tuesday, beginning at 3 p.m., at the church, one hour prior to the services at Cypress Grove Assembly of God. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her honour to Emerald Coast Hospice of Marianna.
