Essie Louise Lanier, 95, of Sneads died Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Marianna Health and Rehab Center. A native and life long resident of Jackson County, Mrs. Lanier was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sneads and a retired employee of Florida State Hospital as a dental assistant. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Lanier; a son, Charles Lanier; her parents, Alexander (Sandy) and Jessie Ranew McAlpin; four brothers, Bobby, Paul, James and Junior McAlpin; five sisters, Marie Foster, Faye Goodson, Alma Collins, Ruby Bradley and Earl McLane. Survivors include two grandchildren, Stacy Lanier Rainey and husband Andy of Grand Ridge, Chuck Lanier and wife Sharon of Cebu, Philippines; seven great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Bill Goodson of Sneads; one sister-in-law, Robbie McAlpin of Gray, Ga, numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11 am Saturday, July 31, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Sneads with Rev.. Robert Johns officiating. Interment will follow at Dykes Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 10 am Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Sneads until funeral time. "
