Ervin Wade Lowe

September 3, 1934 — April 17, 2024

Ervin Lowe was born on September 3, 1934, in Jewel Ridge, Virginia and passed away on April 17, 2024. He was the beloved son of Thomas and Cora Lowe.

Ervin’s life was marked by service, love, and dedication to his country. He met his first wife, Grace Lowe, during his military service, and together they raised five remarkable daughters. In 1980, Ervin found love again with Shirley Lowe, whom he married in June of 1981, and they shared the joy of raising another daughter.

As a veteran of the US Army, Ervin served his country for 21 years as a nurse, including tours of duty in Korea and Vietnam. Following his military career, he served another 23 years at the VA hospital in Erie, PA.

In retirement, Ervin moved to Marianna, FL, where he had a compassionate spirit that shone brightly as he volunteered with Chipola Ministries, the local animal shelter, and his church. He was always eager to assist wherever he was needed. He expressed his love for friends and family through his culinary talents, delighting his guests with hearty breakfasts, decadent holiday treats, and abundant feasts, making sure everyone was cared for before himself.

Ervin found joy in the simple pleasures of tending to his garden filled with fruits, vegetables, and his overflowing flowerbeds. His passion for sports, especially the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers, was unwavering as he never missed an opportunity to cheer them on.

Ervin was proceeded in death by his grand-daughters, Rachel Beth Drobniewski and Chloe Elise Drobniewski; his parents, Thomas and Cora Lowe; his brothers, Bill Lowe, Orastus (Ras) Lowe, Raymond Lowe, Claude Lowe; as well as his sisters, Jeanette Anderson, Dorothy (Dot) Sayers, Marie Kinder.

He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Lowe; his children, Jan Widner and her husband Michael Widner; his first wife’s children, Virginia (Ginger) Meeder and her husband Jerry Meeder, Wanda Lunden, Brenda Fialkowski and her husband Jim Fialkowski, Coreen Lowe, Jennifer Blalock; grandchildren, Adrianne Cordero and her husband Marvie Cordero, Lauren Wheeler and her husband Phillip Wheeler, Seth Drobniewski, Leah Drobniewski, Bailey Blalock, Maia Drobniewski, Eli Drobniewski, Bryce Widner, and Levi Widner; along with his great-grandchild, Ava Cordero.
