Emery Franklin

James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Emery Lonnie Franklin of Greenwood was born May 17, 1930 in Cypress, Florida and went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 02, 2014 in Marianna, FL. Mr. Franklin was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Mae Welch Franklin, his parents Thomas and Hugh Williams Neel Franklin, three brothers Harmon, James, and Albert Franklin, and three sisters Lizzie Mears, Ruby Bryant, and Mary Granger. He is survived by his wife Mary Dorothy Baxter Franklin of Greenwood, one brother Leon Franklin of Pensacola, his children Emery Donnell Franklin of Marianna, John Harvey Franklin of Cypress, Marlon Franklin and wife Denise of Cypress, Diane Waller of Dothan, Kathy Kirkland of Dothan, Wayne Bragg of Greenwood, and Lori Keel of Clarksville, his grandchildren Chris, Tammy, Jason, Gene, Sara, James, Amber, Randy, Brent, Eric, Amanda, Berry, Rob, Ron, Cindy, Tracy, and Jesse and 24 great grandchildren. Mr. Franklin was a farmer in the Cypress Community most of his life. He loved to garden and to fish. He was also employed with Florida State Hospital as well as the Jackson County School Board. He loved the Lord and was a Baptist Deacon for many years, but was most recently of the Assemblies of God faith. Funeral services will be at 10 am, Saturday, July 5, 2014 at the James & Sikes Maddox Chapel with Rev. Chris Franklin officiating. Burial will follow at Carpenter Cemetery in Grand Ridge, Florida with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. Visitation with the family will be Thursday, July 3, 2014 from 6 to 8 pm at James and Sikes Maddox Chapel.
