Elma Jackson Sims, 94, died peacefully at her home in Marianna, Florida on Wednesday, March 9, 2016.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert D. "Bill" Sims; son, Tim Sims; brothers, Durward Jackson (Jeffie), Murray Jackson (Pearl), Audrey Jackson (Mary Ella), Curtis Jackson (Jewel), Lebert Jackson (Betty), John Jackson and his wife and one brother-in-law, Lester Sims.

Elma is survived by her sister, Irene Sims of Marianna; children, Clark Sims (Jean) of Marianna, Sandra Reeves (Ronald) of Suffolk Virginia, Dale Sims (Charlotte) of Bainbridge, Georgia, Nancy Edwards (Gene) of Marianna, Lynn Anderson (Mark) of Thomson, Georgia, Regenia Johnson (Michael) of Apopka, Florida; daughter-in-law, Juna Sims of Marianna; 20 grandchildren, 38 great- grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Elma was born on August 29, 1921 in Grand Ridge, Florida to Robert and Lilla Priscilla Neel Jackson. After her mother passed away when she was a young child, she was reared in the Dellwood Community by her father and beloved stepmother, Leotean Tipton Jackson. She graduated from Greenwood High School in 1939. She married Bill, her sweetheart, on January 30, 1945, and moved to Bill's family farm south of Marianna. She spent her adult life working inside and outside their home, most notably at the Army Navy store and Stephen's store in Marianna. She also often worked at the local voting polls.

Elma loved to fish, embroidery, complete word searches, jigsaw puzzles and pass out candy to children at the church. She was known to cook the best dressing, peanut brittle, and pecan pie this side of Mississippi. Elma was an active and dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2016 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 3141 College Street in Marianna, with Bishop Mark Sims officiating. Interment will follow in Braxton Cemetery, Hwy 71 South, in Marianna with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2016 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.
