James & Lipford Funeral Home 5390 Cotton Street Graceville, Florida 32440 Mary Elizabeth Porter, 86, of Campbellton, FL was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, July 19, 2009, after an extended stay at Campbellton Graceville Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Porter, mother and step-father Marie and D. I. Godfrey, three brothers-in-law, John T. Branning, Bobby Compton and C.J. Porter and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Branning. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Bill Peacock of Marianna, three granddaughters, Stacey Schultz and husband Russ of Springfield, MO, Christy Davis and husband Tommy of Arden, NC, Dana Torbett and husband Rex of Marianna, FL; two great-granddaughters, Mackenzie Davis and Madison Davis of Arden, NC; three great-grandsons, Austin Torbett, Riley Torbett, and Caleb Torbett of Marianna; two step great-grandsons, Dan Schultz of Springfield, MO and David Schultz of Joplin, MO; brothers and sisters-in-law, Erma Earl and L.T. Lane of Panama City, Emma Mae and Tommie Tice of Kynesville, Leola Porter and Sybil Compton of Chipley and a host of nieces and nephews. Elizabeth and Woodrow graduated from Cottondale High School and were married on the same day, June 5, 1942. They resided in Campbellton most of their married life where they owned and operated Campbellton Mercantile Co., Inc. until selling due to his health. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Campbellton and served on the Board of Directors for the Jackson County Senior Citizens. The funeral will be Wednesday, July 22 at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Campbellton with burial to follow in the church cemetery with James and Lipford Funeral Home of Graceville directing. Rev. Luther Pumphrey and the Rev. Addis Habbard will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday July 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. at James & Lipford Funeral Home in Graceville. Active pallbearers will be nephews James E. Tice, Jerry Tice, Stan Porter, Andy Compton, Tom Hamm, Thomas Earl Lane, Bill Parish, and special friend Quint McCoy. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Campbellton, Covenant Hospice of Marianna or the charity of your choice. The family wishes to express special thanks to the nursing staff and especially Dr. Steve Davis of Campbellton Graceville Hospital for their loving, professional care, to Sarah Doris Gilbert for being a faithful, caring dinner companion over recent years and to all other special friends who have shown special love and support for her.
