Elizabeth Blount Hill

Hill, 81, of Grand Ridge went to be with her Lord December 19, 2008, and to join her loved ones, especially her husband Edwin Glen Hill and her son Edwin Glen Hill, Jr., who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Wesley Blount (retired rural mail carrier), and Mrs. Irene Wester Blount, who taught school and was a homemaker. Elizabeth gave her family unconditional love and served her Master daily. An active member of Providence Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and participated in other church activities. She had a special place in her heart for children, demonstrated by her love for teaching. Elizabeth taught in Tallahassee, Florida, at Robert F. Munroe Day School in Quincy, and the last years at Grand Ridge School, where she retired after 30 years. She was also and active member of the ADK teacher organization where she served in different offices. Elizabeth graduated from Florida State College for Women, now Florida State University. Her love for the Seminoles continued, as she was an active member in the Florida State Booster Club, and contributed to the Chipola College Foundation, supported the Chipola Indians, and supported the Grand Ridge Indians by attending all games. Survivors include Nancy Branch and Charles Hill of Grand Ridge; Gilford Hill of Quincy; Ralph Hill of Jacksonville; James and Virginia Blount; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 2 pm, Sunday, December 21, 2008 at Providence Baptist Church with Revs. Willie Butler and Dallas Ellis officiating. Interment will follow at Dykes Cemetery with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Saturday, December 20, 2008 at Providence Baptist Church in Grand Ridge. Flowers will be accepted, or those wishing may make memorial contributions to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 B. Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL., 32808-5428.
