Elizabeth B. Andem

James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Elizabeth Bassey Andem, 68, of Marianna, went home to be with the Lord on March 20, 2015. Mrs. Andem was born in Ibakachi-Ukpom, Ikono L.G., Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria on March 25, 1946. She was preceded in death by her father Bassey Udo Umoren and mother Iquo Ukpaha Umoren, and by two brothers: Samuel Bassey Umoren and Iniobong Umoren. She is survived by her husband of 45 years Dr. Efiong Andem; three daughters: Margaret Andem of Marianna; Imoh Head and husband Tony of Macon, GA; and Emma Andem of Marianna; one son, Uko Andem of Philadelphia, PA; four grandchildren: Elizabeth Brower, Na'hem Bryant, Ava Head, Michael Head; four sisters: Grace Akpakpan of Nigeria; Christiana Udoh and husband Samuel of East Point, GA; Margaret Umoren-Clark of Flowery Branch, GA; Uduak Umoren of Nigeria; three brothers: Abel Abasiemek and wife Naomi of Nigeria; Uwem Umoren and wife Mfon of Norwalk, CA; Ime Umoren of Nigeria; and numerous nieces and nephews. She resided in Jackson County for the past 20 years. She was a member of First Assembly of God in Marianna. She worked as a Pharmacist in various hospitals, ending her career at the Florida Department of Corrections, from where she retired in 2009. Her interests included reading, singing, listening to Christian music, traveling, sightseeing, and going to the beach. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Friday, April 3, 2015 at First Assembly of God Church, 4186 Lafayette Street, Marianna, Florida, 32446. Homegoing service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 4, 2015 at First Assembly of God in Marianna with Pastor Stephen Potter officiating. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Marianna with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel of Marianna directing.
