Mrs. El Lena Mae Coulliette Forrester Ferguson, 95, of Bascom went to be with her Heavenly Father, Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at her residence surrounded by loved ones.
El Lena was born on April 28, 1920 to the late James P. and Annie Coulliette. She was a native and lifelong resident of Jackson County where she graduated from Malone High School in 1939. She worked as a share-cropper before working at Malone High School as Custodial Officer for 20 years where she made a great number of extended family and friends. Mrs. Ferguson was a member of Circle Hill Baptist Church where she loved her church family and was loved by them. She served in many capacities at various churches around Jackson County, including WMU, Sunday School Teacher, Nursery Worker, Sunshine Ministry and other programs. She loved to be with her family, friends and grandchildren to fish, garden, make quilts, plant flowers, cook and bake for large groups as well as can and freeze foods. El Lena was a loving and caring mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Ferguson preceded in death by her parents, James P. and Annie Dupree Coulliette; one son, Frank E. Forrester and his wife, Joyce A. Forrester; husbands, James P. Forrester of 51 years, James P. "Cortez" Ferguson; five brothers, Sandlin, Rufus, Henry, Hubert and Ralph Coulliette; five sisters, Meriatta Waldroff, Ruby Coulliette, Johnny Miles, Vera Hawkins, Merle Cox Miller and one granddaughter, Marrie Segerst.
She is survived by two sons, Bobby W. and wife, Lanette Forrester and Oscar DeWayne "Wayne" Forrester all of Sneads; one daughter, Annie Ruth and husband, Chris DeSerio of Crawfordville; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended step-family members.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2016 at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel with Revs. John Holly and John Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Collins Chapel Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel.
The family would like to thank all the staff members of the Courtyard for the loving support and kind care givin to their mother for the many years she was at the courtyard. Also they would like to thank ECH for their help and kindness.
