Effie Rhea Berry

Effie R. Berry, 87, of Alford, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Jackson Hospital. A native of Wise, Virginia, Effie had resided in Jackson County for the past 44 years where she worked with her husband for many years painting residences and businesses. She also volunteered throughout the years working for Habitat for Humanity, Salvation Army and Goodwill Stores in Marianna and Chipley. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, David Roland Berry, a daughter Mary Ellen Mock, her parents, Samuel and Bertha Osborne Dotson, Maternal grandparents, Samuel and Lizzie Osborne, two sisters, Geraldine Owens and Mary Peacock. Survivors include her daughter, Julie R. Berry of Alford; niece, Patsy Payne Boyett and husband Terry of Lake Talquin; two grandchildren, Sarah Mock Halverson and husband Ben of Crawfordville, David Easterwood, US Navy in San Diego CA; five great grandchildren. An outside memorial service to honor Mrs. Berry will be at 1:30 pm Sunday, April 12, 2015 at her home at 2501 First Ave. in Alford with James Gray Braxton officiating.
