Edward Kern, 83, passed away Tuesday September 2, 2015 at his home in Chipley Fl. Mr. Kern was formerly of Marianna and was a very active man who loved playing golf. It did not matter what time of the day, he was ready to swing a golf club. He served in U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1959 when he was honorably discharged and received the Good Conduct Medal on November 19, 1954. He retired from Western Electric of Cleveland, Ohio and when he moved to Florida he went to work for the USPS and retired from there. He was always on the go and enjoyed being outdoors. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vonna Sue Kern, his grandson Christopher Kern and his parents Elton Kern and wife Angeline. He is survived by his son and two daughters, David Kern and wife Kelly of Jefferson Ohio, Stacey Fisher and husband George of Chipley Fl and Cheryl Spenny and husband Joshua of Gulfport MS and 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, as well as one brother Richard Kern and wife Louella and his sister Dorothy Carrido ,numerous nieces and nephews Funeral services will be 2 p.m Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel with Rev. Ernie Gray officiating. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel.
