Bazzell, 87 of Lovedale passed away Thursday, August 26, 2010 at his residence. The family will receive friends Saturday, August 28, 2010 from 12:30 p.m. until funeral time. The funeral will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Maddox Chapel with Pastors Chuck Woods and Jeff Westburg officiating. Interment will follow in Lovedale Baptist Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. Mr. Bazzell was born July 19, 1923, in Marianna, Fl to the late James Ancil and Martha Laura Pyke Bazzell. His family moved to Jacksonville, FL. when he was a baby and lived there until 1936, when they returned to the Lovedale community of Jackson County, FL. He attended Central School and Malone High School. In 1942 he joined the Army-Air Corp and proudly served his country in the Mariana Islands of the South Pacific. After his honorable discharge in January 1946, he moved to Jacksonville, FL. and married his childhood sweetheart, Doris Rogers, on April 21, 1946. He enrolled in the Electrical Apprenticeship program and became a licensed journeyman electrician, and was member of the Jacksonville IBEW local union for 64 years. He increased his electrical skills by also becoming a cable splicer and was one of a few who wired the cables to the original launch pads at Cape Canaveral, FL. In 1960, he went to work for the city of Jacksonville as an Electrical Inspector. He also taught electrical apprenticeship school, cable splicing classes, and the National Electrical Code. In 1974, he retired to the place of his roots in Lovedale, where he became an active elder as well as head elder of the Marianna Seventh-Day Adventist Church. He was greatly loved by all who knew him. He leaves a lifetime of love to his wife of 64 years, Doris Rogers Bazzell of Lovedale; two daughters, Rene Bazzell Hines, Wanda Bazzell Hobbs and husband, Lerry all of Lovedale, ; two sons, Edward Wayne Bazzell and wife Joan of Lovedale, Ron Bazzell and wife, Trish of Winston-Salem, N.C.; 10 grandchildren, Angela Bazzell, Chad and Randy Hobbs, Wayon, Abbey and Sierra Hines, Bill Bazzell, Kerrie Bazzell Grosenbeck, Nathan Bazzell and Amanda Bazzell Willis; nine great grandchildren.; one sister, Mildred Bazzell of Marianna; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Preceded in death by three brothers, James, Frank and Durwood Bazzell; four sisters, Corine Puzika, Ernestine Bazzell, Dorma McCormack and Elizabeth McCord.
