James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Edna Faith Williams, 87, of Marianna died early Thursday, October 30, 2014 in Shands Hospital at The University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. Edna Faith Williams was born on December 31, 1926, in Marianna, Florida, as the second of five daughters to Elmer and Octavia Hall. She attended school in Marianna graduating from Marianna High School in 1945. Upon graduation she attended Lively Technical School of Cosmetology in Tallahassee. After graduating she returned to Marianna and worked at Inez's Beauty Shop for 4 years. Edna met her husband Hubert in October of 1949. They were married on August 31, 1952. After their daughter Jenny was born she was a homemaker for many years. She returned to work in 1970 for the Jackson County School Board ending her career at Arthur G. Dozier School for Boys when she retired in 1990. Edna loved her family who affectionately called her "Sis". She loved cooking and baking and was known by many for her delicious goodies. Her family fondly remembers many trips to the beach and many other fun times together. She and her husband enjoyed Chipola Basketball games for over 20 years. They had the privilege of attending the National Basketball Tournament in Kansas in 2004 and 2005. Edna was a woman of great faith. She was compassionate, caring, always putting others before herself. Edna was a member of First Baptist Church of Marianna. She loved her Naomi Sunday School Class and fellowship time in her small group. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Octavia Hall, and father and mother-in-law Howard and Florida Williams. Also, older sister Elma Rea McCrary, brother-in-law Thomas Melvin, sister-in-law Marie Burgess, brother-in-law and wife Carol and Melba Williams, nephews Tommy Melvin, Bill Williams, and niece Rebecca Williams. She is survived by her husband of 62 years Hubert W. Williams, daughter Jenny Buie and her husband Al Buie of Lake City. She greatly loved and was very proud of her grandchildren Allison Buie of Gainesville and Trey Buie of Lake City. Other survivors include her sisters Sarah Williams (Herbert) and Mary Melvin and brother-in-law J.J. McCrary of Marianna, and Robbie Williams (James) of Jacksonville, brother-in-law Charles Williams (Barbara) of Bradenton and sister-in-law Merle Moody of Pensacola. Aunt Sis was loved by her many nieces and nephews. Serving as Pallbearers are David Melvin, Glen Williams, Phil McCrary, Brett McCrary, Flint Williams, and Tommy Barfield. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Naomi Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church, Marianna, FL. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, November 2, 2014 at 2 o'clock in the afternoon at the First Baptist Church of Marianna. Officiating will be David Melvin and Dr. Mark Long. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Saturday November 1, 2014 at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel
