She was born in Altha and had resided in Jackson County for the past 85 years. Miss Messer was the former owner-operator of Edna's Beauty Shop, a charter member of the Marianna Garden Club, a past member of Marianna Business and Professional Women's Club, a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Marianna and a member of the Davis-Folsom Circle. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Hattie Bennett Messer; two sisters, Estelle Rawls and Pauline Peel. Survivors include her sister, Coreane McDaniel of Perry, Fl.; two nephews, Doyle Peel and wife Jan and Johnny McDaniel; two nieces, Reba Olcott and husband Rick, Vera Furtick and husband Mike; two great nephews, Jackson and Graham Peel; two great nieces, Mallory Lackman and husband Nate and Johanna Wood; two great great nephews Hendrix Peel and Oliver Lackman; one great great niece, Morgan Peel. Graveside services will be at 2 pm Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at Dellwood Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Bill Hinds and Dr. Jeffery Shannon Eads officiating. Interment will be in the Dellwood Baptist Church Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
