Edgar Columbus "Ed" Cearley III EDGAR "ED" COLUMBUS CEARLEY III went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 22, 2008 in Marianna, Florida. Born August 3, 1947 in Houston, TX, Ed graduated in 1965 from Waltrip High School. He attended Southwestern University where he was a Phi Delta Theta, and in 1969, he graduated from the University of Texas. Ed's career was in radio sales, marketing and management. He spent many happy years at KILT FM/AM in Houston before moving to Longview where he was GM of KYKX. At the time of his death, he was President and GM of a group of stations including WJAQ in Marianna, Florida. Ed was passionate about his Texas Longhorns and attended National Football Championships of 1969, 1970 and 2005. But even the Longhorns took second place to the love he felt for family and friends. His children, parents, brother and large circle of friends always knew they could count on him for love, support and laughter. Ed was a York Rite Mason. He is preceded in death by his brother, Steve Cearley. He is survived by his parents, Dot & Buster Cearley of Longview, daughter Ginger Cearley and son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Elizabeth Cearley, all of Houston. He was looking forward to the birth of his grandson in January. Memorial services will be at First United Methodist Church of Marianna, Thursday September 4, 2008 at 10 AM.
