Douglas "Doug" Bryant Stewart

February 12, 1938 — April 14, 2010

Douglas Bryant Stewart, 72, of Marianna died Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at his residence. A native and life long resident of Jackson County, Doug retired from the Department of Corrections as a Lieutenant, was a U. S. Navy veteran, a member of Caverns Road Church of Christ and a member of the Sons of the Confederacy. Doug had a heart of gold and was a friend to all! He was preceded in death by his parents, Jefferson Bryant and Sarah Barwick Stewart, stepmother Johnnie Mae Burgess Stewart; one brother, Hilton Stewart; three sisters, Shirley J. Lipford, Waunell Baum and Betty Jamaine McCoy. Survivors include one brother, Willard Stewart and wife Roberta of Marianna, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be 3 pm Sunday, April 18, 2010 at Caverns Road Church of Christ with Mr. Jimmy Miller and Rev. Chester Padgett officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Baptist Church with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 2 pm till service time Sunday, April 18, 2010 at Caverns Road Church of Christ. Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to the building fund of Caverns Road Church of Christ, 4448 River Road, Marianna, Fl. 32446 or the Andy Alsup Scholarship Fund c/o Caverns Road Church of Christ. "
