Dorothy Ellen Vesey

James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Dorothy Ellen Vesey, 93, of Grand Ridge, FL went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 21, 2013. Dorothy Ellen Fowler was born on September 8, 1919 to George and Virginia fowler in Pennsylvania. She was a true homemaker. She loved to cook, bake, share what she had with others, and riding on the back of a motorcycle. She loved going to church and singing hymns. She was a member of Hasty Pond Baptist Church in Marianna, FL where she was affectionately called "Mama". Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, John Butler, Sr., a brother, William "Bill" Fowler, a son, Charles Butler, Sr. and her late husband, John Vesey. She leaves behind to cherish her memories, a brother, Floyd Fowler (Florence) of Bushnell, FL, a son, John Butler, Jr. (Audrey) of Paris, TN; a daughter, Dottie Morgan (Jim) of Grand Ridge, FL, nine grandchildren, 13 great- grandchildren and a special great-great grandson, Tripp; along with several nieces, nephews and great- nieces, great- nephews, a special care giver Priscilla and the caring staff at Covenant Hospice. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 25, 2013 at Hasty Pond Baptist Church with Rev. Lamar Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2013 at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations are made to Covenant Hospice in her honor.
