Dorothy Ellen Powledge Jones

Dorothy Ellen Powledge Jones, 92 of Marianna, formerly of Mobile, Alabama, died Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at Chipola Nursing Pavilion in Marianna. Mrs. Jones, was born May 31, 1917, in Harrelson, Georgia, and lived most of her life in Mobile. She was a graduate of Murphy High School and worked as a pharmacy clerk along side her husband, Percy H. Jones, a pharmacist with Albright and Wood and Medical Arts Pharmacy in Mobile. She was member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church where she sang in the Adult Choir and was chairperson of the Tract Ministry. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, Percy H. Jones; parents, Lillie D. and Andrew F. Powledge, Sr.; sister, Martha Powledge Richards and brother, Andrew Franklin Powledge, Jr. She is survived by her sister, Velma Powledge Hayles, nephew, Dennis Powledge, niece, Charlotte Edenfield and husband, Dwight, all of Marianna; niece Jena Settles, and husband, Mike of Knoxville, Tennessee; niece, Ellen Whigham Gray and husband Jerry of Bridgeville, Pennsylvania and nephew, Darrell Powledge and wife, Stephanie, of Roanoke, Virginia; a step-son, Curtis Jones and wife, Renata, granddaughter, Dorothy Jones Box and husband Gregory, all of Mobile; grandson, Carl H. Jones and wife, Renee, of Baltimore, Maryland; great-grandson, Paul Stephen Bailey, Jr. of Lexington, Virginia; numerous great nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will 10 am, Friday, December 4, 2009 at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with Dr. Shannon Eads officiating with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
