Doris May Adkins (Nee Johnson), 83, died peacefully in her Marianna home on Thursday, March 15, 2018.
A native of Baltimore, MD, she was the youngest of seven children. And being the only girl, she was showered with love and attention from her big brothers, all of whom adored her. She fondly remembered some of the best times of her life being "down the shore" on a houseboat built by her father. She grew up during an era of 'lights out' from fear of enemy attack and stars placed on the window representing each brother serving their country.
She loved steamed crabs, playing dominoes, yard sales, a good belly laugh, true friends and animals. But most of all she loved her daughters and husband.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Joyce Lynn; her brothers, John, Vernon, Bill, Mel, Buddy, and Kenny; her parents, George, and Ruth.
She is survived by her husband, Benny and daughter, Janice Lee DuBois, of Marianna.
A celebration of her life will be held at her daughter's home on Thursday, March 22, from 4pm to 6pm. James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel will be handling arrangements.
