Donald Eugene Hill, 86, of Cottondale, FL went to his heavenly home to be with the Lord on January 6, 2017. He passed away at home surrounded by his family at his home.
He lived most of his life in Marianna, FL before moving to Cottondale in 2010 to live with his daughter. He worked at Jackson Packing Co. for approximately 19 years until it's closing. He then went on to work for the Jackson County School Board in Maintenance. He worked with his wife, Jean, in the Hill Group Home for many years until her passing. "Uncle Donald" as affectionately known by many of his clients, as well as others, was a dedicated and very humble man. He was a loving father and grandfather.
Mr. Hill was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Hill and Floria Lewis Hill, his wife, Emily Jean, son, Paul Hill, brother, J.C. (Buck) Hill, and sisters, Evelyn Baggett and Edna Brock.
Survivors include his son, Herrall Hill, daughters Sharon Barber and Shelia Hill, all of Cottondale and daughter, Donna (Gene) Worthington of Quincy, FL, special stepdaughter, Shirleen (Marshall) Barrentine of Marianna, the mother of his children, Betty Simmons, 5 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, brother, Carlos (Gladys) Hill of Marianna and sister, Ada Mae Baggett of Altha, and many nieces and nephews.
Private graveside services were held at 11 A.M. Monday, January 9, 2017 in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with Pastor Ernie Gray officiating and James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the excellent care and support provided by the entire team of Emerald Coast Hospice. Their actions were and are greatly appreciated.
