David "Dave" Brent Whiddon, 62, of Greenwood died Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center with his family by his side.
Born in Jacksonville, Dave had resided in Jackson County most of his life and had been a permanent resident since 1991. He was a US Army veteran having served in Vietnam and was a carpenter by trade. He loved laughing and talking with his friends and family and enjoyed gospel music and computers.
He was preceded in death by his father George Alexander Whiddon; three brothers, Glenn, Michael and Ron Whiddon.
Mr. Whiddon is survived by his wife of 40 years, Beverly Whiddon of Greenwood; two sons, Jason Whiddon and wife, Estelle of Marianna, Noah Whiddon and husband, Paul Ragaller of Boston, Mass; his mother, Daisy Whiddon of Two Egg.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Cypress Grove Assembly of God Church with Rev. Wayne Fussell officiating with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directng. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, May 9, 2016 at Maddox Chapel.
