With heavy hearts and solemn minds, we announce that David Wayne Allen has passed away of a heart attack on Monday, June 12, 2023 at the age of 71.
He was a lifelong resident of Jackson County and is an alum of Marianna High School's class of 1971. He was regularly found fishing the various lakes and rivers of the Florida panhandle. David worked out in the sun for 27 and a half years at the Florida Department of Transportation.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Allen, and nephew, Brian Hatcher.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sheila Allen; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Erika Allen; sister, Jane Tillman; sister-in-law and husband, Toni and Jeff Tidwell; brother-in-law, Terry Heaton Sr. He also leaves behind the following nieces and nephews, Beverly, Tracey, Travis, Terry Jr, Addison, Rhyley, Hannah, Hunter, Caleb, Anna, Elizabeth, and Isabella.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Friday, June 16, 2023 at Caverns Road Church of Christ with Pastor John Poitevint officiating and James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. Burial will follow at a later date in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Caverns Road Church of Christ.
