Mr. Daniel Jakelsky, age 65, a resident of Slocomb (formerly of Holmes County, Florida), died Saturday, October 15, 2022 at the home of his son with his loving family by his side.
Mr. Jakelsky was born on February 2, 1957 in Princeton, New Jersey, the son of Julius Jacob and Margaret Jakelsky. He lived in High Bridge, N.J. until he was 14 then moved to Westville, Florida where he lived until moving to Fadette community 5 years ago. Mr. Jakelsky worked as a contractor in concrete construction for 40 years and during that time he and his wife owned Selah’s Grocery at Millers Cross Roads for 7 years. He was a member of Carmel Assembly of God Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Eddie Jakelsky. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Susan Bruce Jakelsky, of Slocomb, AL; daughter, Amy Abbott (Terrence), of Wichita, KS; a son, Trent Jakelsky (Kayla), of Malvern, AL; a sister, Valerie Tine (John), of Bonifay, FL; a brother, Mark Jakelsky (Stacy), Marianna, FL; nine grandchildren, Jonathan Abbott, Amyah Abbott, Izzy Abbott, Lexi Abbott, Lucas Jakelsky, Maggie Jakelsky, Parker Jakelsky, Susannah Jakelsky and Willie Jakelsky; along with several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 20, 2022 at Carmel Assembly of God Church with Rev. Tony McCullough and Rev. Mark Jakelsky officiating and James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
The family will be receiving friends from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., Thursday prior to services at the church. Flowers will be accepted.
