Curtis Hentz Richards, 77, of Grand Ridge, FL passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at the Noland Hospital in Dothan, AL.
Curtis, also known as Red, was born on May 13, 1943 in Quincy, FL to Charles (Charlie) and Lola Gurtrude Broxton Richards. He was a welder by trade but retired from the City of Quincy as a Warehouse Manager. Curtis attended church at Welcome Assembly of God in Dellwood, FL where he was famous for his delicious yeast rolls. Curtis sang with the Covenant Quartet from 2003 to 2010. He loved to fish, watch old westerns, and Seminole football. His favorite past time was spending time with his grandchildren. Anyone who knew Red knew he loved to joke and pick at you, but only if he really liked you.
Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, Charles (Charlie) Hentz and Lola Gurtrude Broxton Richards.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Dewey Richards of Grand Ridge; daughter, Lola Fulmer (Matt) of Quincy, FL; son, QMC Curtis Gator Richards, USN (Ret) (Mazie) of Cairo, GA; step-children, Tracy Cummings (QB) of Sneads, FL, Byron Jeter (Polly) of Altha, FL; sister, Carolyn Vickery of Live Oak, FL.; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A private funeral service will be conducted at Welcome Assembly of God Church with Rev. Steven Subel officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. Public access will be available online at
