Curtis Lee Lawson, Sr., 76 of Malone, Florida died Sunday, November 12, 2023, at Southeast Health, Dothan, Alabama.
He was born September 14, 1947, in West Virginia to Orville and Mary Lawson. Curtis worked for Jackson County School Board for 28 years before retirement. He was a devoted husband, and he loved his children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter dearly. Curtis never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. He was an avid coon hunter, enjoyed planting his flower garden, and loved spending time outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Mary Lawson; son, Joseph Lee Lawson; granddaughter Halena Grace Barnes; brother, Rabon Lawson; and nephew, Bill Maloney.
Curtis is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sharon Kita Lawson; daughter, Carrie Barnes; son, Curtis “Lee” Lawson, Jr.; grandchildren, Ronda Lawson, Audree Lawson, Andrianna Barnes, James Barnes, III, Braden Blunt; great-granddaughter, Malaysia Watkins; siblings, Phyllis Conrad, Brenda Gillenwater (James Earl), Carol Zink (Mel), Ivita Lonney (Jack), Ronald Lawson (Rosie); along with many nieces, nephews and family he loved dearly.
Memorial Service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until the time of service. James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
