Coy Lee Baxter

James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Coy Lee Baxter, 87, of Sneads, died Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Jackson Hospital. Coy was a native and lifelong resident of Sneads. He retired as a Laundry Supervisor from the Florida State Hospital. Coy was a farmer and enjoyed his ministry of truck farming. He was a member of the Salem Wesleyan Church and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Coy was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Fannie Justice Baxter; one son, Dewey Baxter; one sister, Inez Baxter; four brothers, Willie, Lonnie, Jr., Foy and Roy Earl Baxter. He is survived by his wife, Essie McKinnie Baxter; daughter-in-law, Betty Baxter; three daughters, Sondra Anderson and husband, Jeff of Charlotte, NC, Janet Lopez and husband, Jose of Grand Ridge, Rebecca Mitchell and husband, Larry of Dellwood; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Salem Wesleyan Church with Revs. Roger Myers, Jack Howell and Mike Daniels officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2015 at Salem Wesleyan Church.
