Claudia Vera Matthews

Claudia Vera Matthews, 86, or Dellwood died Thursday, May 24, 2006 at her residence. Mrs. Matthews was born in Gordon, Alabama, lived most of her life in Jackson County. She was retired from Florida State Hospital, a longtime member of Welcome Assembly of God Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Matthews. Survived by her son, David Eugene Matthews and wife, Barbara of Dellwood; two daughters, Genelle Glass of Chattahoochee, Wynelle Ethridge and husband Donald of Dellwood; one brother, Cecil Evans of Port Richey, Fl.; three sisters, Heddy Rhodes of Atlanta, Ga., Inez Faulk of Shalimar, Edna Matthews of Two Egg; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Ethridge, Belinda Stevens, Jana Lawrence, Angela Locke, Michael Matthews, Amy Glass, Jerod Ethridge.; six great-grandchildren; Special Care Givers, Jennifer Ethridge, Nadine Hagan, Shellie Hood, Carol Hagan; thanks to Covenant Hospice for all their love, care and kindness shown to our mom. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Welcome Assembly of God Church in Dellwood with Revs. Jack Howell, Charles Jackson, Thomas Batts & Juno Douglas officiating. Burial will be in the church Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Friday at Welcome Assembly of God Church in Dellwood. Flowers accepted or memorials to Covenant Hospice or Welcome Church.
