Charles Sipes, 82, of Marianna, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 14, 2024, after a long illness.
He was born on August 15, 1941, in Los Angeles, California. In May 1960, Charles joined the United States Marine Corps and served his country for 24 years before retiring. July 12, 1980, he married Edna and together they traveled across the United States while he served in the Marines and Edna served in the Navy. In 2013 they moved to Marianna where they enjoyed retirement.
Charles was a very active member and belonged to many Masonic Bodies throughout his life and was a mentor to many people over the years until his passing. He was a Master Mason and served as Worshipful Master Mason of the Lodge.
He was also an active member of the Grand York Rite. He is a past Grand Commander, Past Illustrious Grand Master, and Past Grand High Priest of Utah. He was recently bestowed the honor of receiving his red hat with the Scottish Rite organization. He was also an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Charles and Edna were members of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Marianna. He touched the lives of many people and will be missed by everyone who came in contact with him.
Charles is survived by his wife Edna; daughter, Ceri Edwards, of Texas; grandsons, Alexander and Christopher, of Texas; numerous great-grandchildren as well as a brother, David and his wife, Betty of Utah.
A Celebration of Life service will be 12 noon, Saturday, April 27, 2024, at St Luke’s Episcopal Church in Marianna, Florida. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the McKinnon Parrish Hall at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
The family requests flowers and plants be omitted but donations may be made to either the Knights Templar Eye Foundation or a charity of your choice in Charles’ memory.
