Charles E. Rhodes

Charles Edwin Rhodes, 72, of Marianna, passed away with his family by his bedside on Saturday, April 21, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer. A native of Alto Pass, Ill., Mr. Rhodes was a proud United States Navy who served on the USS Princeton. After his military service Mr. Rhodes started his career with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. In 1988 he and his family moved to Marianna to open the new FCI. After retirement in 1996 he enjoyed retirement for one years then went to work at Wal Mart as the Garden Center Greeter. He loved being outside, planting flowers and trees, and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents Aaron "Cap" and Edith Gregory Rhodes. He is survived by his loving wife of over 40 years, Lillian Rhodes; daughter, LilyAnna Rhodes both of Marianna; grandchildren, Colleen and Ryan Mears; two sisters, Naomi Acklin and Wilma Cain; one brother, Andy Rhodes all of Illinois. Memorization will be by cremation with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel in charge of arrangements. No visitation or service is planned.
