Charles H. Land, 84, of Bascom died Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Extendicare Health & Rehabilitation Center in Dothan. A native and life long resident of Jackson County, Mr. Land was the founder and former owner of Land Drywall Construction, a member of Hickory Grove Free Will Baptist Church and a veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his parents, William E. and Mattie McClain Land and one sister, Myrt Stewart. Survivors include his wife of over 50 years, Faye Land of Bascom; four sons, Gene Hatcher and wife Marilyn of Dothan, Charles O. Roberson of Panama City, Matt Land and wife Ceritha, Jeff Land and fiance' Kelly Sims all of Bascom; four daughters, Melva Chrouch of Fresno, Calif., Deanna Boyle and husband Dennis of St. Paul NC, Sonya Welch of Jacksonville, Sabrina Rohr and husband Stephen of Ozark, AL; one brother, James Land of Marianna; four sisters, Dot Wefel, Clara Bauldree and husband Bill all of Marianna, Norma Bird and husband Gene of St. Mary, Georgia, Peggy Aldridge and husband Wayne of Marianna; 21 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren and his beloved dog Nacho. Funeral services will be at 11 am Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at Hickory Grove Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. James Bradley and Rev. Henry McClain officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors presented by the Sneads American Legion Post 241 with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends form 6 to 8 pm Monday, December 6, 2010 at Maddox Chapel."
