Carol Ann Yon, 63, of Greenwood, FL, went to be with the Lord on July 5, 2016.
Carol was born on November 4, 1952 in Newark, New Jersey. She moved to Florida at an early age and Graduated from Chattahoochee High School in 1970. Carol was a very compassionate person who enjoyed taking care of others. She retired from Sunland in 2002 after having a stroke. She was a member of Cypress Grove Assembly of God Church in Grand Ridge, FL. Carol was a very friendly woman that never met a stranger. She considered all people as "friends that she had not yet met". Carol would speak to everyone she met and her family lovingly referred to her as "the woman with the gift for gab". Carol enjoyed reading and decorating her house for every season and holiday. She always said, "A Good Book Is Like Family".
Carol was preceded in death by her precious grandchildren, Zoe Grace Spooner and James Tyler Fender; her parents, William and Pauline Lehman and stepmother, Ruby Lehman; her father and mother in-law, Edward and Ivory Yon; sisters, Shirley Varney and Patricia Godwin; brothers, William P. Lehman and Freddie Whiddon.
Carol is survived by her former husband and friend, Edwin Yon; son, William E. "Billy" Yon II and wife, Christy; daughters, Genethie Spooner and husband, Brandt, April Lewis and husband, Philip; brothers, James Lehman, Albert Lehman, Bertram Lehman and Raymond Thames; sister, Ann Thames. She was blessed with multiple grandchildren who she loved very much; Andrew Fender, Kristen Fender, Hannaih Spooner, Olivia Spooner, Branden Spooner, Autumn Yon, Shane Yon, Peyton Yon, Grayson Yon, Austin O'Neal, Caleb O'Neal, Cody Lewis, Mason Lewis and Emily Ann Lewis.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2016 at Cypress Grove Assembly of God Church with Revs. Wayne Fussell and LaVon Pettis officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church.
