James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Callie Croft Hightower, 80, of Marianna died Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Jackson Hospital. Mrs. Hightower was a native and life long resident of Jackson County. She was retired from Sunland Center in Marianna, and Baptist by faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry L. Hightower; her parents, Janie and Tommy Croft; four sisters, Julia Malloy, Estelle Wells, Minnie Neel and Alice Porter; her son, Craig Hightower. Survivors include her daughter, Melanie Dunaway Lee and husband, Ray of Clearwater; three nieces, Jannet Porter, Jerry Porter and Brenda Nettle; four great grand nieces and nephews; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 1, 2012 at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel with Rev. Irwin Jennison officiating. Interment will follow at Cow Pen Pond cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, March 31 at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel. Following the interment, there will be a repast and time of fellowship held at Marvin Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, 2401 Hope School Road in Marianna.
