C J Stephens

C J Stephens, 92, of Grand Ridge died Sunday, December 7, 2014 at Jackson Hospital. A native of Jackson County, Mr. Stephens was a former resident of Jacksonville, He was a US Army veteran and retired after 35 years of service with CSX Rail Road. He formally attended El Bethel Assembly of God Church and loved growing his garden. "He enjoyed sitting in the sun...Today, he is sitting with the SON and the Father" He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Mildred Rabon "Bow" Stephens; his parents, John C and Bell McMillian Stephens; three brothers, Wilbur, Archie and John "Shorty" Stephens; one sister, Allie Earl and a great great grandson, Jayden McCorkel. Survivors include his four sons, Donald Stephens and wife, Sandra of Hillard, FL, Kenneth Douglas Stephens and wife, Sandra of Keystone Heights, FL, Danny Stephens and wife, Cathy of Ellabell, GA, David Stephens and wife, Erica of Bagdad, FL.; three sisters, Bertha Holland of Grand Ridge, Erma "Tenkey" Cunningham and husband, John of Grand Ridge, Lenora Steadman and her husband, Norman of Ft. White, FL.; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 pm Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at El Bethel Assembly of God Church with Rev. Jack Howell, Chaplain of Covenant Hospice of Marianna officiating. Interment will follow at Dykes Cemetery in Grand Ridge with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 1 pm until funeral time at El Bethel Assembly of God Church.
