Byron Willis Carroll

October 16, 1926 — August 8, 2008

Byron Willis Carroll, 81, of Marianna died Friday, August 8, 2008 at Jackson Hospital.
A native of Whigham, Georgia, Mr. Carroll was a retired U. S. Navy Senior Chief after serving 21 years where he proudly served our country in WWII, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam war. He also retired from Thompson Tractor Company. He was a member of the Grand Ridge Church of God, where he taught Sunday School for a number of years and was a faithful servant of the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Vivian E. Carroll; his parents, Alex and Evie Carroll; Siblings, Roland, Felton, Melvin, Lola and John Carroll; special nephews, Eugene and Marlin Carroll.
Survivors include, his wife, Sybil J. Carroll of Marianna, Daughter, Barbara Wiggins of Marianna; brother, Hansel Carroll and wife, Annie of Iron City, Ga.; sister, Wilma Hagins of Jacksonville; step-daughters, Glenda Echols and husband Charlie of Ochlocknee, Ga., Delores Heard and husband Carey of Bainbridge, Ga. and Gayle Eakin of Donalsonville, Ga. ; grandchildren, Scott Wiggins and wife Tori, Steven Wiggins and wife Deanne all of Marianna; Jace and Shannon Heard, Ed and Kris Echols great grandchildren, Brian, Mathew and Wesley Wiggins, Cameron and Reagan Oliver and Marisa Echols.
Funeral service will be 2 pm CST Sunday, August 10, 2008 at Maddox Chapel with Rev. Charles Hewett and Rev. Lavon Pettis officiating.
Graveside funeral service will be at 4 pm CST, Sunday, August 10 at New Enterprise Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Iron City, Georgia with James Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Saturday, August 9, 2008 at Maddox Chapel.
Asked to serve as pallbearers are Ray Albritton, Lionel Blake, J. R. Boone, Bill Moody, Almer Williams and John Williams."
