James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Mabel Kendrick "Bunny" Wester, a long-time resident of Marianna died Thursday, November 27, 2014 at Jackson Hospital in Marianna, she was 93 at the time of her death. She was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Wester; her parents, Scott and Martha Kendrick; three brothers, Aubrey, Carl and James Kendrick; four sisters, Vera Sprinkle, Mattie Lou Jones, Myrtle Torrence and Lillian Hale. She was also preceded by an infant son, John Douglas Wester, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (Becky) Wester of Marianna; many nieces and nephews. Bunny and her husband, Donnie made Marianna their home in 1949. They both worked in Marianna and were very active members of the First United Methodist Church. Bunny worked at the Jackson County Health Department, Graham Air Force Base and the First United Methodist Church. Bunny worked as a bookkeeper at Marianna High School from 1965-1985. Bunny held many offices in her church. She was a youth counselor and taught the Dean Skaggs Sunday School class for 25 years. She was an active member of the United Methodist Women holding offices in her church and district. She was the first women appointed Administrative Board Chairman at the First United Methodist Church in Marianna. Bunny Wester loved her God, her church, and her family and friends. She had a servant's heart and was happiest when doing something for others. Funeral services will be at the First United Methodist Church in Marianna, Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Bill Elwell officiating. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at First United Methodist Church, Tuesday, December 2, 2014. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Marianna First United Methodist Church. Special thanks to the staff of Marianna Health & Rehab, Dr. Richard Goff and the 3rd floor staff of Jackson Hospital for their loving care.
