James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Bonnie Talley Dunaway, 84, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2014 in Marianna, Fl with loved ones by her side. Mrs. Dunaway was born in Bascom, Fl, daughter of William Russell and Hattie Mae Talley. She was a lifelong resident of Jackson County, with the exception of the 12 years she and the love of her life Leon Rogers Dunaway, Sr. MSG. RET., was stationed at various military bases. Upon his retirement of the U.S. Army they returned home in 1960. Mrs. Dunaway worked as a bookkeeper for the Jackson County Floridan for 8 years and then retired after 30 years with the Florida Department of Revenue. She was a member of the Bascom United Methodist Church and enjoyed her church family. She loved growing beautiful flowers, gardening, fishing, and cooking for her friends and family. She was truly a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed greatly. Bonnie was Preceded in death by her parents, husband of 54 years and sisters Elisabeth Talley and Elsie McClain. She is survived by her two sons, Roger (Mary) Dunaway of Gulf Breeze, FL. and Russell (Kathy) Dunaway of Marianna, FL; grandchildren, Rosemary Wyatt, Tallahassee, FL, Anna Dunaway, San Diego, CA, Kirk Dunaway, Pensacola, FL, Ashley Merritt (Steve) Johnson, Marianna, FL, Drs. Will (Phyllis You) Dunaway, Boise, ID. and Dr. Lee (Emily) Dunaway, Tallahassee, FL. great- grandchildren, Mary Kate Wyatt, Tayler Johnson, Vivian Dunaway and Julian Dunaway. She is survived by a sister Sarah (John) Hughes, Grand Ridge, FL, and brothers Bill (Mary) Talley, Jacksonville, FL and George (Judy) Talley, Dothan, AL. Also survived by numerous nephews, nieces and their families that she dearly loved. Funeral services will be at 2pm Tuesday, May, 27, 2014 at Bascom United Methodist Church with Pastor Wendell Beall officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the church.
