Bob Plass

Robert William Plass, Jr. died Sunday, November 15, 2009. He was 59 years old. Born in Poughkeepsie, NY on July 21, 1950, he was the son of Robert William Plass and Helen Palmer Plass. Bob grew up in Pleasant Valley, NY, on the family farm, and was in business with his father for a number of years. Bob served in the US Army Reserve and attended Cornell University where he was a member of the rowing team and Sigma Chi. Bob also worked for the United States Department of Agriculture before starting his trailer and landscaping business. A self-employed business owner in Marianna, FL for the past twenty years, Bob was a very active man and enjoyed working outdoors. He enjoyed sharing his thoughts and did so with many people with honesty and humor. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Anita Plass. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his father, Robert William Plass of Pleasant Valley, NY, three daughters; Rebecca Plass Oden and husband Tramaine of Wiesbaden, Germany, Summer Plass Arnold and husband Andy of Greenwood, FL, Jennifer Plass of Marianna, FL and three grandchildren; Nicholas, Brannin, and Jocelyn. He is also survived by three sisters; Janet Plass Portzer and husband Jeffrey of Apex, NC, Martha Plass Sheehe and husband Dennis of Bloomsburg, PA and Lorraine Plass and husband Donald Stebbins of Midlothian, VA and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Palmer Plass. A visitation with friends and family will be Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 5pm at James and Sikes Funeral Home in Marianna, FL. A memorial service will be celebrated following the visitation at 6pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
