Bob Burke

Robert Terry “Bob” Burke, 67, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, February 13, 2022. Bob was born to Henry Bernard Burke Jr. and Mary Anne Jones Burke on November 7, 1955. He was a lifelong resident of Marianna and a graduate of Marianna High School. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama. He later received a Master’s degree in Education Administration from the University of West Florida. Bob was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Marianna.

Bob served as an educator and administrator in the Jackson County School District for over 25 years. He loved fishing on the river, spending time at the beach, and enjoying time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed all types of music and was known to occasionally join in playing his homemade washtub “gut bass”. He was well known for his funny stories and engaging sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Burke Jr., and Mary Anne Burke.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Lori Callaway Burke; his children – Robert Terry Burke, Jr (Mai-Lynn), Philip Joseph Burke (Jessica), and Annie Ella-Nora Burke (Megan), his stepchildren Chrystal Young and Jonathan Green, 9 grandchildren; his siblings – Beverly Burke McCaskill (Austin), Henry (Bo) Bernard Burke III (Jody), and Elizabeth (Bess) Burke Hooks (Henry) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will take place at 11AM Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at First United Methodist Church of Marianna with Reverend Dr. Nathan Attwood officiating. Private burial in Riverside Cemetery in Marianna with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Embrace Florida's Kids (United Methodist Children's Home), c/o First United Methodist Church 2901 Caledonia Street, Marianna, Florida 32446.
