Blanche E. Kenyon, 100 years of age, formerly of route 28, Warrensburg, NY, peacefully passed into her heavenly home on July 29, 2016 at Chipola Health and Rehabilitation Center, Marianna, Fl.
Born October 4, 1915, in Athol, NY, she was the daughter of Charles and Mary E. (Mead) Elwell. She was the wife of Carl R. Kenyon who predeceased her in 1987. They had been married 54 years, both being 17 years of age at the time they were married. Blanche worked at a variety of jobs including working at the Warrensburg Shirt Factory, having her own beauty shop in Athol and worked for many years assisting her husband in his business by selling logging and lawn equipment at their shop in Warrensburg. After retirement, they moved to Florida. Shortly after the death of her husband, she put in many hours of her time as a volunteer Pink Lady at Jackson Hospital in Marianna. She was best known at the hospital as the little lady with a big smile. She truly loved bringing joy to others.
In the early years of their marriage, Blanche and Carl enjoyed playing country music for entertainment as well as playing for square dances at Sun Canyon Dude Ranch and Ye Olde Barn in Thurman, NY. Many pleasant memories are recalled by their children, family and friends of the music and singing that was so often heard coming from their home, the little white house on Cameron Road in Athol, NY.
Her faith in the Lord and her family were Blanche's first priority throughout her many years upon this earth. She was formerly a member of the First United Methodist Church in Warrensburg, NY and after retirement became a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Marianna, Fl.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Katie Austin Smith, Laura Wright, Elizabeth Brown, Florance Ingraham and her brother, John Elwell. Survivors include her daughters, Carol Baker (Jack) of Camden, SC and Nancy Baker (Ronnie) of Antigonish, Novia Scotia, Canada. She leaves eight grandchildren (to whom she was known as "Mimi), 19 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank all those neighbors and friends who loved her and helped her maintain her independence for so many years. A very special thanks to the kind and loving caregivers at Chipola Health and Rehabilitation as well as the kindness, concern and care given by her physician Dr. Steven Spence.
Memorialization will be by cremation with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
