She died October 16, 2009 in Tallahassee, Florida. She was the oldest of six children born to Rev. Cicero Jiles and Mrs. Julia Russell Morrison Buttram. She was proceeded in death by her parents and all of her siblings, sister, Faye Eason Buttram Lawrence, and brothers, Wayne Morrison, Glenn McMurry, Worth Jiles, and Thomas Gilmer. Blanche is survived by sister-in-law, Mildred Buttram of Indianapolis, Indiana and numerous nieces and nephews. Miss Buttram was capably and devotedly cared for by her niece, Julie Carol (Mrs. Scott) Gaby and her family of Crawfordville, Florida for the last few years. As the daughter of a Methodist minister, Aunt Blanche moved often in her formative years. She was a long time resident of Marianna, Florida and a lifetime Methodist. Aunt Blanche taught piano lessons for many years. She so enjoyed singing in the choir of Marianna First Methodist Church. Aunt Blanche will be fondly remembered for her unique personality, her newsy letters, and for her love of music, flowers, church activities, cats and her family. The funeral will be held at First United Methodist Church in Marianna on Tuesday, October 20 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Hopewell Cemetery, near Florala, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Hopewell Cemetery Fund, attention Mrs. JoAnne Carpenter, 14066 Old Farm Road, Florala, Alabama 36442, or to Chipola Apartments, 4401 Constitution Lane, Marianna, Florida 32446. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the First United Methodist Church.
