James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel William Earl (Bill) Glass born in Blakely, Ga. to Benton S. & Willie Merle Glass on March 14, 1939 passed away at his home in Chattahoochee, Fl. on Sunday, September 9, 2012 with his family by his side. Bill was a graduate of the Chattahoochee High School class of 1959, attended Chipola Junior College, and was a proud business owner in the town he loved. He was a member of the Jaycees International, Rotary Club, & President of the Chattahoochee Athletic Club. In his earlier years, Bill enjoyed being involved in the lives of the youth of Chattahoochee, which included coaching for the Recreation Assoc. and was the announcer for the CHS Yellow Jackets home football games for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters; Annette Spencer and Betty Hall. He was truly loved by his family which includes, Vera Genelle Glass of Chattahoochee,; daughters; Amy Glass, Angela Glass Locke & husband Chad and "BeBop's" pride & joy and the reasons he held on....his granddaughters, Lauren Genna Locke & Lindsey Elizabeth Locke, all of Sneads. He is also survived by his brother, Carl Glass and wife Helene of Chattahoochee and his sister, Mary Bass, of Bristol, Fl., a special family friend, Bit Curlee of the Sycamore Community, and a sweet companion, "Precious the poodle". Bill was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chattahoochee and attended Sneads First Assembly of God with Genelle. Later in his life, Bill opened his second successful restaurant, "The Home Place" in Chattahoochee where many wonderful memories were made with some of his lifelong friends. Flowers are accepted or donations can be made in memory of Bill to Big Bend Hospice or Sneads First Assembly of God Building Fund. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m cst, Thursday, September 13, 2012, at Sneads Assembly of God Church with Revs. Juno Douglas, Bill Mayo, and Jack Howell officiating. Burial will follow in Welcome Assembly of God Cemetery with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends Wedneday, September 12, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. cst at Sneads Assembly of God Church.
