William H. "Bill" Chafin, 81, of Marianna died Sunday, November 29, 2015 in Marianna.
Bill was born in Marianna, where he has lived most of his life. He served in the US Navy, worked as a park ranger with State of Florida Park Service from 1971-1994. During that time he attended Law Enforcement School where he finished in top of his class in 1973. He served the Marianna Police Department as a part time police officer from 1973-1978. Bill was a member of Trinity Baptist. He loved to fish and he loved his family.
Bill is preceded in death by his Wife, Bobbie Chafin; parents, William Franklin Chafin and Johnnie Wynell Singletary Chafin; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret Chafin Boone & Tommie "Bud" Boone; brother, James Robert "Jim" Chafin.
Survivors are his son, James Alan Chafin of Tallahassee; step mother, Marie Chafin of Marianna; brothers, Howard Chafin and wife, Annette, of Marianna and John Chafin and wife, Paula, of Tallahassee; sisters, Sarah C. Wright and husband, Ronnie, and Brenda Peters, all of Marianna, Elsie Myrick of Chipley; two grandsons, Erik Chafin and Justin Van Gorder; numerous nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Jane Chafin.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Maddox Chapel with Revs. Ronnie Wright & Roland Rabon officiating. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, 4215 Kelson Ave., Suite E, Marianna 32446.
